Spring Break 2023

What a fun-filled, action-packed week we have had!

We kicked off our week with Niko's school egg hunt and the elementary fun run. We are so grateful to all who donated! Our school surpassed its goal for donations. Alexander ran hard, as expected. The students all got to see me worn out, too, as I ran for the entire fun run for both the lower elementary and upper elementary classes .I loved getting to cheer my students on.

We were blessed to have Gammie with us for THREE weeks!

We were both tired at the end!

Thursday night, we drove through the night to make the most of an Atlanta spring break.
Friday was a relaxing day at Gammie's recovering from the long drive

The boys picked wildflowers for Baby Daisy

Saturday was rainy, so we caught the new Mario movie.
We all loved it!

Saturday afternoon was a cousin Easter egg-stravaganza!
The hunt had to be moved indoors due to the rain, but we had a blast.

There were over 300 eggs in JanJan's basement!

Heidi had all the cousins working hard on a puzzle. This trip was a really special bonding experience for Heidi and Niko.

He Is Risen!!
We went to church on Sunday morning to celebrate the greatest event in human history

The church had a beautiful cross, with unfortunate power lines.  This is two years in a row our flower cross pictures have left something to be desired.  Maybe next year we will take them early so we don't have the pressure of the Easter Sunday line.

Daisy was all about me this trip!!  No fear of this brunette any more.  She seems to have realized that I come with two of her favorite boys, so I must be pretty alright.

Having family near makes my heart swell. My boys thrive on the love of their extended family.

Baby Daisy is so loved

After Easter naps, we headed to Stone Mountain

Niko and Gammie rode the Sky Tram while Jan, Alexander, and I climbed

Alexander felt it was easier than he expected, but enjoyed it nonetheless

Happy Easter!

It was so great having us all together at the top!

Goofball

The next morning we found a secret park on our walk

We played forever! Gammie decided to head back early and got totally lost. Luckily, Zoey heard her calling and would not listen when I told her to come. Finally, in my frustration over Zoey not listening, I heard my mom calling my name. She was deep in brush and brambles! It was an adventure, but we all escaped unscathed.

That afternoon, Weston and Shorna came by

Daisy was all about her Weston.  Craig and Heidi are lucky Daisy didn't end up leaving with her!

It was a beautiful day for porch sitting

These ladies are a definite part of my tribe!

I'm so lucky to be surrounded by amazing women!

Love us some Shorna

Mid-Week, I got a beautiful surprise!  If you've known Daniel and me long enough, you know tulips hold a very special significance in our relationship.

It was a short visit, but this woman right here means the world to me.  It was fun seeing our too-cool-for-school seven year old boys interact.  They have way too much in common!  Lord, help us both!

Lego Discovery Center was a blast!

My little engineer

Craig joined the fun, too. The boys lit up when they saw him come in!

Alexander was very proud of his rocket ship.  It was too tall to fully make it into the video game scanner, but he enjoyed played with the bottom half!

4-D movie time - Ninjago style
As we left Lego Discovery, they said, "That was so much fun!  Thank you for bringing us here!" We had lunch at Johnny Rockets, and Niko said, "We are still here having fun!"

Our sweet Daisy.  Loving her solid foods and playing with her cousins

I love being so close to Atlanta and all my girls from college.  I ate my weight in fajitas and ice cream with Rachel and Jan!  The boys were so well behaved on this day.  I just want to mark this in history.  They were amazing!  The whole day!
I grew so much at Georgia because of the wonderful woman I was surrounded by

We left dinner and ice cream to a great surprise
Fire night!

Alexander loves building a good fire
He said he wasn't going to have a s'more, because he had already had ice cream, but the temptation was too great. Spring Break, baby!

Before hitting the road, we took advantage of Fernbank Museum

The color exhibit was lots of fun

Craig, Jan, and Daisy were able to come meet us

We loved seeing the dinosaurs

Back in Fayetteville, we enjoyed a true dining experience with my local bestie, Mrs. Thompson!  The boys must have left their self-control somewhere along the long drive back.  It was an exhausting lunch, but wonderful company.

We burned some energy Friday night at The Climbing Place

Our friend Zayn met us, the boys climbed for over two hours! Thank goodness they serve pizza on Friday nights, because the kids all worked up an appetite!

Today is JanJan's birthday, so Alexander has been working very hard on learning Happy Birthday on his new keyboard.  He even made his own sheet music to help himself learn.

We made our own "beach" fun to end our spring break, playing in the construction sand at the end of our neighborhood.

The boys had a blast and didn't fight hair washing and early bedtime

These boys...

Our week was busy and relaxing, and filled with many of our favorite people.  I love my job so much, it is exciting to be going back tomorrow, but this week did a lot for my heart.
