National Dog Day

The Martin Crew celebrates our first baby every day, but I want to take a moment to pour some love over our princess on National Dog Day this year.

Sweet Zoey is so patient with her crazy brothers and does her best to protect them from anything she deems dangerous

While Nikolai loves to throw food down for her, or hold it in his hand and share with her (sometimes then putting it back in his mouth....ewwww), she is so smart, she knows not to eat dropped grapes

Our sweet girl suffered her second seizure in just three months last week.  The vet asked me to try and record it if she had another one.  Luckily, Zoey came outside to find me when ehr seizure started.  I quickly got Niko and me out of the pool, grabbed my phone, and sat rubbing her and loving on her as her seizure continued for an additional four minutes.  While it feels super scary to have seen her go through this, the doctor assured me that it is probably not a big deal.  The good news is that she had her first seizure when she was still a baby.  The doctor said this likely means she has epilepsy rather than something new and more dangerous going on neurologically.  For now, we put her on a prescription neuro-health dog food and are continuing to monitor her.

While she is still as snooty as ever, she has a huge heart for the people (and d0gs) that she deems worthy.

She sleeps between the doors of Alexander and Nikolai's rooms and always lets us know when one of them starts to wake up

She has been there for so many of our family's big moments!

You've grown up a lot since we found you on Petfinder (the closest thing to online dating I've ever done).  We love you more each day, princess.
Happy National Dog Day!
