Knoxville, Tennessee

We headed up to Knoxville, Tennessee this past weekend to spend time with Daniel's Granny, and to have Alexander meet his Great Granny.

He took to Granny immediately and absolutely loved her!

The car trip was long and much harder than my recent trip to Atlanta, but we were able to find some grassy areas for the whole family to stretch our legs.

On Friday we ate at the Applewood Farmhouse

I held nothing back and enjoyed their complimentary apple fritters and julep, and then ordered the trio of chicken in dumplings, fried chicken and chicken pot pie with cucumber salad and cornbread dressing as my sides.  It was amazing!  Alexander devoured their delicious applesauce
We ate outside since we had Zoey, and with weather in the 90s, we were all sweaty by the end of the meal.

Luckily, there was a creek across the road, so we all cooled off

After Applewood, we headed through Pigeon Forge (the traffic was insane!) and explored Gatlinburg for a couple hours before heading back to see Granny again.

Took in a quick Moonshine and Whiskey tasting in Gatlinburg

Three generations

When we weren't hanging out with Granny, we were hiking through the Great Smokey Mountains.  We found our own trails and creeks to play in so we had the area to ourselves.
It was absolutely gorgeous and the whole crew was able to let the stress of real life go and enjoy our adventure.

As usual, Xander was loving the water

We stayed at an AirBnB in the Knoxville mountains.  The house was on 7 acres and near a lake.

We had a truly amazing time.  The car ride was a bit rough on all of us, but I hope to be back in the mountains before too long!

This week is underway in a flourish with infant swim lessons happening at our house every night...
