Major Milestone Alert!

We are SO PROUD of Alexander for riding his bike without training wheels!

It got dark quickly, but he didn't want to stop!

We tried a week ago and it just wasn't the right day.  Everyone felt a bit frustrated and defeated afterwards.  Alexander was uninterested in trying again for awhile, and Daniel didn't want to miss it, so we waited until Daniel was back in town from Dan and Lauren's wedding.

Alexander knew he was going to earn his new tablet when he was able to succeed, but I thought maybe trying smaller intervals of reinforcement might help.  Our second trip out, I offered mini marshmallows if he would let Daniel release the bike, and we promised to go for ice cream after dinner if he didn't whine or cry while we practiced.  He needed no assistance!  As soon as we got outside, Daniel gave him a little push, and he took off!

In just two days, Alexander is now working on turning, starting by himself without a push, and even taking one hand off the handle bar.  He wants to bike all day, and when he falls, he might get a bit frustrated, but he always wants to jump right back on.

Go Alexander!!
